I was driving in the car the other day and this song comes on that I used to be in love with. The name of it is called Strong Enough by the incredible Matthew West, I’ve always just thought it was a good song with a good beat, I never really listened to the lyrics and understood what they meant.
The chorus is what stood out to me the most the other day. I just feel like this is a prayer everyone has prayed before when they are at a low point.
I know I'm not strong enough to be
Everything that I'm supposed to be
I give up
I'm not strong enough
Hands of mercy won't you cover me
Lord right now I'm asking you to be
For the both of us
We think that we can handle everything that comes towards us, and we as humans are stubborn and hate asking for help and believe that we will figure out a solution.
I know I forget that God is my strength. I forget I can always trust him to help me when I need it the most.
It seems like we only call on him to help us when we have hit our bottom. God is our strength. We’ve been singing about it since bible school when we were 5, “we are weak but he is strong”
We would be nothing without his mercy and his strength. We have days when we feel
those are the days when we need to pray for his strength more than ever and remember how loved we are by him. You can pull through ANY situation, no matter how hard or terrible it is. God gets you through.
9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
10That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
2 Corinthians 12:9-10
Through every trial I have been through, God has been the one to get me through it. He pulls me through, even when I don’t ask for his help. He helps us find victories in our hard trials. He gives us the strength to grow through what we go through.
I forget that God has the ability to help me see through what I am currently dealing with and to look ahead. He will provide us with what he knows we need, not what we think we need.
