So today was a pretty normal day for me - woke up, went to work (second day and not fired yet, whew!), went to the gym with Madi and then we went to eat at Chick-Fil-A for some girl and God talk, which everyone needs at least once a week to stay sane in my opinion lol.
We began talking about how we wish God would just lay out answers for us - tell us exactly what to do, what decisions to make, and just how he wants us to live for him. There has been soo many times in my life where I just want to scream because I have no clue what i’m doing. I just wish a note would fall down from Heaven saying “this is what you need to do, this is where you need to be”
I’m not sure if it’s the reassurance I need or if I need to know i’m not screwing up my life and making the wrong decisions. I just want him to sit on my bed beside me and lay out my life for me so I know i’m in the right major, i’m on the right path and where I supposed to be.
Something else we talked about was choices. We are faced with thousands of choices every single day - what to eat, to go to class, to do our devotions, to go out and party, to go to church, etc - how do you know if you are making the right choice? I’m scared that one day I will pick the wrong choice and it will take me off of God’s path for me.
I read this in a devotion I was doing earlier and it caught my attention.
Often He works in whispers instead of shouts. And the way we practice listening is to go in faith and do everything before His face.
We as humans can be self seeking, we may think that we want to 100% follow God’s will for us, but we secretly want his will to be somewhat what we want. He could be leading us down the road he wants us to be going down and we could be missing all the signs.
We have to listen to God’s voice everyday — He is here with us, praying about it and seeking out his will will help answer the unanswered questions and help the choices that seem nearly impossible to make.
One thing I am starting to figure out is there are three questions that you need to ask yourself before making a choice or deciding your future -
Will this put you closer to God or take you further
Will it bring Glory to God
Is this confirming what God wants or is it confirming what I want?
Now of course you wouldn’t ask these questions if you are deciding on getting a hamburger or chicken nuggets (always go with nuggets tho) but when it comes to a job career or telling a friend something that they need to know or even cheating on a test, go over these three questions and look at the pros and cons.
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28.
It is hard to listen for God’s answer and to find it, but if you are living for him and your intentions are not selfish, you will find the answer you need and he will not lead you astray. Our lives are in his hands and if we give it all to him, then he will give us his will and way.
